The Catalan community in Ireland organised yesterday a successful Human mosaic/demonstration (V) in support of Independence of Catalonia and Democracy

On Ssaturday 23rd of August 2014 the Catalan community living in Ireland (ANC Ireland and the Catalan Council of Ireland) organised a successful V mosaic/ demonstration in support of independence of Catalonia. The demonstration coincided with nearly 90  similar  other events taking place world wide and a massive one that will take place in Catalonia next September 11^th.

It has been a very successful event with more than 150 attendees, exceeding by far the organisers expectations with people from all nationalities and ages gathered in front of the Dublin’s Garden of Remembrance. Altough we had to complete the initial V earlier than the meeting time as the park was closing due to anther demonstration outside. Therefore, the initial picture with the V is showing only partially the attendence of the event and the other pictures gathered everyone else afterwards in front of the Dublin City Gallery.  As an act of friendliness and gratitude towards their adopted country, Catalans  welcomed other Irish who wished to join in and be a part of the “human V” today.  

 The organisers have chosen the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin to hold the event as the symbol of Irish independence and freedom, for its historic relevance. The people who gathered together, sang several songs of freedom together with the Catalan national anthem and chanting independence songs. The event was conducted in a festive yet civilised atmosphere and passers by showed great interest and congratulated the organisers. This event has been video recorded and subsequently will be shown throughout most of the national media in Catalonia.

The Catalan community in Ireland gives its full support to independence for Catalonia and today gathered united peacefully showing support to Catalonia and its desire for independence. Today’s event was also useful to explain to Irish citizens and tourists why the people of Catalonia want their independence from Spain as soon as possible and that Spain does not allow its citizens to vote.

Currently, the Catalan government is not allowed to hold a referendum of independence or decide any relevant issues as it is subordinated to the Spanish government and does not have full power of decision. Catalans want to participate democratically in a referendum for independence. This referendum will be on November the 9th and it could show then, that Catalonia is mature enough to govern itself with its own voice in the European Union and the United Nations.

However, as a referendum is not allowed by the Spanish government, the social movement “Catalan National Assembly”   http://catalanassembly.org/     who last 11^th  September  mobilised in 2012 around one and a half million people during a peaceful rally in Barcelona as a show of solidarity with the Catalan Government and in support of the proposed Referendum and also organized a “human chain” of over 1.5 million persons holding hands that were peacefully stretching along the entire country from north to south (about 400 Km) on 11 September 2013, Catalonia’s national day. More than 200 foreign journalists requested to be able to cover the Catalan Way, creating a much higher international interest than for last year’s huge rally and this year will repeat a huge demonstration in the shape of a "V" in Barcelona.

Like the Catalan Community in Ireland completed today, many Catalan communities abroad are also participating in this serene symbolic gesture creating their own “V” demonstrations in more than 80 cities around the globe. New York, Paris, London, Buenos Aires, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Los Angeles, Boston, Rome, Miami, Frankfurt, Vancouver … and many more !!! Such as a similar event that will also be held here in Cork (Ireland):

The ANC Ireland wants to say a Big THANK YOU  to all those who attended the event and the ones who have shown interest in this rather unusual representation of good  will where many people peacefully demonstrated to symbolise their support of a nation’s democratic right to decide its future by means of a Referendum.

V for independence of Catalonia in Dublin - August 23rd 2014

Informació necessària per la teva participació a la Via Catalana a Dublín el dia 1 de setembre:

Recomenacions: 

- Farem una concentració inicial ,com l'any passat, dintre del Garden of Remembrance  i després tot seguit farem la V a les escales interiors durant uns minuts.

- Com que volem gravar un vídeo, seria convenient portar una samarreta de color groc o vermell, ja sigui la oficial  o qualsevol de color groc o vermell.

- L'ANC és una entitat no partidista  amb l'objectiu únic d'aconseguir la Independència de Catalunya, per tant us agrairiem que no portéssiu simbologia de cap partit polític a la V de Dublín, les banderes anteriorment mencionades serien suficients.

- En acabar la V per la independencia farem unes foto final al Garden of Remembrance on cantarem l'himne nacional de Catalunya i altres cancons i després anirem al pub The Heritage Pub Parnell Inn, per fer unes pintes i fer petar la xerrada.

Extra: Properament n'estem preparant una també a Cork coincidint amb els actes de la 

LX CONFERÈNCIA ANUAL DE L’ANGLO-CATALAN SOCIETY 5-7 SETEMBRE 2014.

Molt important: Queden menys de 3 mesos per la Consulta per la independencia de Catalunya del 9 de novembre, si vius a Irlanda i vols votar, t'has de registrar al  Registre de catalans i catalanes residents a l'exterior.

Catalan Way (V) in support of self-determination of Catalonia that we will hold in Dublin. We are already more than 65 people registered and still have 4 more days!

We want to take this opportunity to give you some additional information about the event:

Day:       August 23rd 2014

Time:     16:00 pm (Sharp as there are other demonstrations later on)

Lloc:       Garden of Remembrance.

Recommended: 

- We will meet initially inside the Garden of Rememrbance  and afterwards we will starts the V peacful demonstration. 

- We intend to record a video, ideally everyone should wear a yellow or red t-shirt and if possible bring Catalan and/or Irish flags and banners in support of Catalonia or democracy (if possible).

- The Catalan National Assembly is a non-partisan organization working to achieve the independence of Catalonia. therefore we would appreciate if no specific political parties symbols are brought to the event. Catalan or Irish national flags are enough. 

- When we finish the V, we will continue at Garden of Remembrance to take a final photos, we will sing the Catalan National anthem and afterwards we will go to the pub The Heritage Pub Parnell Inn, to have some drinks and chat.

Extra: We are also preparing on in Cork. To be confirmed. It will probably be together with the:

V en suport de la independència de Catalunya a Dublín - 23 d'agost 2014

Amigues i amics,

L'11 de setembre, milions de catalans mostraran, de nou, la seva determinació per construir pacíficament i democràticament un nou Estat a Europa. Així, drets i organitzadament, una multitud de persones faran una V gegant al llarg de les dues principals avingudes de Barcelona, la Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes i la Diagonal. Aquesta iniciativa serà el tercer gran esdeveniment organitzat per l’Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC) després de la "Via Catalana" de l'any passat, que va reunir més de 2 milions de persones que es van unir en una cadena humana de 400 km de nord a sud de Catalunya; i la manifestació "Catalunya, nou Estat d'Europa" de més d’un milió i mig de persones a Barcelona el 2012. Enguany centenars de milers de catalans i amics de Catalunya farem una V mostrant que volem i Votarem per expressar la nostra Voluntat en favor de la Via democràtica cap a la independència.

Molts de vosaltres viatjareu a Catalunya aquest 11 de setembre per ser una ajudar a omplir la V, la nova Via Catalana cap a la Independència 2014. Però serem molts més els que ho viurem des de lluny. Aquesta distància no ha de fer-nos menys protagonistes d'un esdeveniment que farà història. 

Per això, des de l'Assembla Nacional Catalana a Irlanda (ANC Irlanda), com l'any passat, també organitzarem la V a Dublín amb tots els catalans i simpatitzants de Catalunya disposats mostrar al món que la nostra determinació d'esdevenir un estat independent és ferma, pacífica i majoritària.

“V”, we are ready

ANC’s Council of Foreign Assemblies promotes international mobilization campaign to spread the "V" around the world

Between August 1 and September 11, more than 30 Catalan Foreign Assemblies of the ANC organize the campaign #votecatalonia to form the V in many cities and towns around the world.

Like last year with the International Catalan Way, when we organized 126 human chains around the world with over 10,000 participants, we want to mobilize the international network to multiply the "V" and explain the Catalan process of independence. Our goal is to reach everyone who supports the right to decide freely and democratically our future.

On September 11 millions of Catalans will again show their determination to build a new state in Europe peacefully and democratically by forming a giant V along the two main avenues of Barcelona, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Diagonal. This initiative will be the third big event organized by the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) after last year’s Catalan Way, when 2 million people formed a 250 miles human chain from north to south of Catalonia, and the 1.5-million-strong demonstration in Barcelona in 2012.
